Weekend wear

Packing is tiring.  I’m waiting for the packing fairies to come help me, but so far they’ve been a no-show.

Club Monaco cowlneck knit top | ayala bar necklace | J Brand 901 jean leggings | Miz Mooz Gayle Boots

The tank top (Club Monaco) is not part of my 30 for 30, but I had to wear it because I recently realized that this top is extremely see-through, and rather low-cut.

Anthro Daily Gathering Dress (Bailey 44) | Club Monaco cardigan | Anthro necklace | Wolford Satin Opaque tights | Miz Mooz Gayle Boots

I didn’t pack in this outfit, this was to go out to dinner with Will.

Anthro Claudine Tee (Ric Rac) | Club Monaco Cardigan | ayala bar necklace | J Brand 901 jean leggings | Miz Mooz Gayle Boots

Also not for packing.  I’m back in comfy clothes now.

Anthropologie catalogue: February 2010

Every week I take a look back at past Anthropologie catalogues and what I loved from then.  (Thanks to Natalie for posting all the links.) I used to think that it’s impossible to find these pieces again, but thanks to Roxy’s trade market and eBay, anything is possible.

Circus theme!

star sprinkled cardi, looping lanes belt, grasslands dress, halfsies heels

fragmented pipevine dress, cherry juice heels, off the map blouse, burnished short-shorts, acrobatics wedges –
I bought the fragmented pipevine dress, but it certainly doesn’t look like that on me.

cherry juice heels, come one come all booties, carmine heels –
ooh, the shoes I hated!

slate stripes shift

recital cardigan

four petal cardi, pollen promise skirt, acrobatics wedges
– it’s some weird pattern-mixing to me, but it works.  On the model, in the catalogue.

24.2.11

I’m tired of the waiting game. Let’s play hungry hungry hippos instead.

3 more outfits means 10 more to go.  And it also means 10 outfits until I move!  I just really want to get in there.  I’m tired of playing the waiting game.

Anthro Network Dress (Velvet) | Club Monaco cardigan | turquoise necklace made by me | Wolford Individual 20 tights | Bos & Co heels

No black or grey in this outfit!  Shocking.

Anthro Spotlights Tank (Ric Rac) | Club Monaco cardigan | Hilary Druxman necklace | Club Monaco pencil skirt | Wolford Satin Opaque tights | Miz Mooz Stella pump

I’ve really remixed the crap out of this orange cardigan.  And to think I almost purged it from my closet.

Jacob sleeveless top | Club Monaco cardigan | soulflower necklace | Anthro Acting Out Skirt | Wolford Individual 20 tights | Bos & Co heels

I love that this was a short week.  I’m facing a weekend of packing and possibly prepping the condo for painting, but I can’t wait.

paint your palette blue and grey

Not only did I actually put on real clothes this weekend, I also came across a surprising and unexpected bonus to the 30 for 30 challenge. Will and I spent considerable time cleaning, purging, and packing in anticipation of our move into our condo, and I was able to pack all my non-30-for-30 clothes since my challenge will last up to the day before we move. So not only is 30 for 30 helping me come to terms with the excess in my closet and allowing me to explore more creative outfits I may not have put together otherwise, 30 for 30 is helping me be more organized!

It is kinda weird seeing my closet so empty though.

Anthro Oak Apple Dress (Moulinette Soeurs) | Club Monaco cardigan | Hilary Druxman necklace | Wolford Individual 20 tights | Duo Hawthorn Boots

This is my first attempt in pairing this dress with colour.  Yellow would make more sense, but I don’t own a yellow cardigan.  I love the combination of orange and blue, but does it work here?  I say yes.  Because I wore this in public.

Anthro Echoing Folds Cowlneck (Bordeaux) | J.Crew Jenna’s Cardigan | Ayala Bar necklace | Anthro Circle the Globe Skirt (Edme & Esyllte) | Wolford Satin Opaque Tights | Cole Haan Air Tali Mary Jane Ballet Flats

God, I hate my bangs here.

Finally Friday

Club Monaco knit top | Ayala Bar necklace | Anthro Alluring Sway Skirt (Cartonnier) | Wolford Individual 20 tights | Miz Mooz Stella Pump

This may be the simplest outfit I’ve work in a long time. Discounting tights and necklace, it’s only 3 pieces!

J.Crew top | Club Monaco cardigan | J Brand 901 Jean Legging | Michael Kors heels

Fuzzy Friday! Whoops. But look, I’m halfway through 30 for 30! Now I’m looking forward to a weekend in lululemon. If I wear real clothes, it’ll be a miracle.

Anthropologie catalogue: February 2009

Every week I take a look back at past Anthropologie catalogues and what I loved from then.  (Thanks to Nataliefor posting all the links.) I used to think that it’s impossible to find these pieces again, but thanks to Roxy’s trade market and eBay, anything is possible.

It’s only February, but spring is coming!

morning colors dress – I remember loving this dress and I’m still considering trying to track it down.  But I’m not a huge fan of the neckline.

tatra vista shell, fertile loam mini – back details are always good

shadowlight dress –
makes me want to wear yellow

compass points tee –
great colours!

honeyhouse dress –
I love this dress….

mackinac wedges, out-and-about wedges, tera mater thongs, broma process satchel, choux bag

needlework t-straps, northwoods satchel, bandana bucket bag, claudette slingbacks

antwerp chair, white narcissus mirror

flamenco shower curtain –
I think this shower curtain is still in stores.  I’d have it, but it’s way too ruffly for Will.

hump day

My coworkers and I spent today going “it’s only Wednesday?? Seriously??” Yeah, it’s been that kind of week.

At least I’ve been dressed reasonably well.

Anthropologie Claudine Tee (Ric Rac) | Mexx cardigan | Ayala Bar necklace | Anthropologie Alluring Sway Skirt (Cartonnnier) | Wolford Individual 20 tights | Miz Mooz Stella pumps

Jacob sleeveless top | Club Monaco cardigan | Anthropologie necklace | Anthropologie Field Skirt (Edme  Esyllte) | Wolford Satin Opaque tights | MIchael Kors heels

Jacob sleeveless top | J.Crew Jenna’s Cardigan | Anthropologie Acting Out Skirt (Cartonnier) | Wolford Satin Opaque tights | Michael Kors heels

I wish tomorrow were Friday.  It’s a three-day weekend coming up, and all I want to do is lie in front of the TV in my pyjamas for three days straight.

I ❤ Anthropologie

It’s not exactly a secret that I heart Anthropologie.  But since it’s Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d wax a poetic about them and explain my love for them.

It may not be the typical love story; it’s not about how I love everything and and how much I want from them right now.  Okay, there are a few things I want:

The Gathering Tank by Deletta (because I’m a sucker for Deletta’s jersey tops)

Cultural Heritage Skirt by Yoanna Baraschi (because I’m a sucker for pencil skirts, even though Americana is not my cultural heritage)

But I digress.  What I really want to say is that I love Anthro because it’s helped me curb my shopping habits.  That sounds like it doesn’t make any sense, and true, I’ve spent a ton of money at Anthro over the past year.  But before Anthro, I shopped more, and I shopped badly.  I kept looking into my closet and thinking nothing I had was special, so I kept shopping and shopping and shopping trying to find those “special” pieces.  With Anthro, everything I’ve bought is special, and now that I’ve built a closet of amazing things from there, I can stop shopping.  Well, not really.  When I shop, it’ll probably be Anthro, and it’ll be pieces I really love.

I ❤ west elm

As much as I love Anthropologie, I’m not a huge fan of their home decor.  It’s a little too vintage-y/antique-y for my taste; I prefer a much more modern, streamlined, contemporary look.  So, enter west elm.

We bought the two biggest pieces of furniture for our new condo elsewhere, but west elm has furnished everything else: bedding, curtains, and accessories.  We seem to be making weekly trips there too.

It started with this cushion…

bull's eye silk pillow cover

The blue motif pillow is basically the colour scheme for our condo.   But we did also buy the covers for the red ones, in case we wanted to switch them up.

ruffled-circle quilt

We bought this in slate, a dark grey.  Surprisingly not too girly for Will.

cotton canvas window panel | stripe shower curtain

The canvas drapes were a steal, and we’re extending the blue colour theme with the striped shower curtain.

recycled spanish-glass vases | recycled spanish-glass bud vases

Normally we don’t do knick-knacks, but I couldn’t resist these gorgeous glass vases.

Grownups

This week has marked a milestone in my life, Will’s life, and our relationship: we have become homeowners. And therefore we are now grownups.

The deal on our condo closed successfully on Wednesday, and this is what I was wearing:

Anthropologie Daily Gathering Dress (Bailey 44) | Anthro Oolite Necklace | Club Monaco cardigan | Wolford Satin Opaque tights | Cole Haan Air Tali Mary Jane Ballet flats

Perhaps not the most memorable of outfits (although I do love that necklace), but there it is, history has been written, and that’s what I was wearing when I officially became a grownup.

And here’s what I wore in the past three days I’ve been a grownup:

Jacob sleeveless top | Club Monaco cardigan | Anthro Oolite necklace | Anthro Circle the Globe Skirt (Edme & Esyllte) | Wolford Satin Opaque tights | Michael Kors heels

(I wear a lot of black, so I wanted to punch it up with a little colour.)

Anthropologie Craft & Creation Top (Deletta) | Club Monaco cardigan | Hilary Druxman necklace | J. Brand 901 Jean Legging | Miz Mooz Gayle high-heel boots

Anthropologie Graceful Drape Top (Bailey 44) | Club Monaco cardigan | J. Brand 901 Jean Legging | Duo Hawthorn Boots

(Head turned because I hated my bangs this morning.  Also, those are sheets thrown over a drying rack in the background.)

But who do I kid, I’ll never truly be a grownup.  I’ll always be slightly irresponsible and immature.  However, I hope I don’t grow up and become too serious.  That would be sad.

Anthropologie catalogue: February 2008

Every week I take a look back at past Anthropologie catalogues and what I loved from then.  (Thanks to Natalie for posting all the links.) I used to think that it’s impossible to find these pieces again, but thanks to Roxy’s trade market and eBay, anything is possible.

acorn cup dress

I remember this catalogue—I think I ordered a few pieces and then returned them because they just didn’t look like they did on the models.  Note to self: I am not a model.

supreme grace dress

heritage stripe tank

hanky-tied dress

monterey splice surplice –
this is one that got bought and returned

new growth tee -
ditto

satin songstress flats –
I loved these, but I don’t think I could buy shoes out of a catalogue.  I need to try them on.

romany flower dress

dream hunter dress –
I wish I could wear yellow

blue moon yonder dress –
why didn’t I order this one?  Looove the colour

circle art necklace, caravan dress –
I remember loving the necklace, but thinking it would be too much for me.  I love the dog sitting with its paws crossed!

salt swirl v-neck, right to roam skirt, tartan slingbacks

fiddler's song dress, spotted chipper wedges
