Anthropologie catalogue: March 2009

Every week I take a look back at past Anthropologie catalogues and what I loved from then.  (Thanks to Natalie for posting all the links.) I used to think that it’s impossible to find these pieces again, but thanks to Roxy’s trade market and eBay, anything is possible.

(Sneaking this one in before the end of March!)

bungalow dress, coral way dress, galaxy-of-dots dress, sweet olive shift – I like them all, but the Bungalow Dress (bizarre name…) is my favourite.

stillwater blouse, along-the-horizon skirt

caranday dress – a blogger favourite.  Too bad I wasn’t into Anthro (or stripes) then.

the-grand-holiday dress – my kind of shape, my kind of colour.

wigt's sago dress – I have no idea what the name of the dress means, but I like it

breadfruit blouse, cocoplum pencil skirt – what’s breadfruit?

I wish I cared

So as of Friday, April 1, I will be unemployed.  My contract is up on Thursday and won’t be renewed.

This is probably a bad thing.  I don’t have another job lined up, and I have a new condo.

The thing is, I don’t care.

I hate my job, so it’s a blessing in disguise.  I’m also financially able to be out of work for a while, so I’m going to take some time off to relax and reboot.  And to play housewife to my fiancé for a while.  I’ll find another job eventually.  Maybe I should be worried, but I’m not.

At work this week, I’ve pretty much checked out mentally, and I’ve kinda been tempted to show up wearing leggings or yoga pants, but I decided against it.

Anthropologie Oroya Dress (Eva Franco) | Club Monaco cardigan | Hilary Druxman necklace | Wolford Satin Opaque tights | Michael Kors heels

Note to self: afternoon is not a good time to take photos.  Or if I do, I need to close the curtains.

Also note to self: learn to stay upright in heels.

I can’t live without…

The theme of the windows at Holt Renfrew right now is “I can’t live without”.

So this got me thinking about my “I can’t live without” list. The frivolous list, not the serious stuff I can’t live without (air, water, sunshine, Will, family, and friends).

  • Burt's Bees beeswax lip balm - I have about 4-5 of these at any given time, in every purse, around the house, and in coat pockets. Of course, they all run out at the same time.
  • Dark chocolate almond brittle - YUM.

  • Salted chocolate caramels - I love anything salted caramel, especially covered in chocolate.

  • Vietnamese pho - my perfect meal.
  • Rice - I can't help it, I'm Asian.
  • Ballet flats

  • my iPhone - what would I do without it?
  • Books - even if I haven't been reading much lately.
  • Citrus fruit.

I’m sure there’s more, but can’t think of them right now.

I know it is, but when??

I don't hate winter as much as some people, and I dread the heat and humidity of summer, but I have to agree, winter is dragging on too long in this part of the world. Spring please!

A bit unruly

An outfit post!  I haven’t done one of those in over two weeks, since the end of 30 for 30

Anthropologie A-Bit-Unruly Top | Club Monaco cardigan | American Apparel leggings | Duo Hawthorn Boots

But I’m still figuring out the best place to take photos in my new condo.

I’m not a stripe person, but I loved this top the minute I put it on.  I love the off-centre twisted neckline, the soft fabric, and the slimming effect, which was even more obvious in the changing room.

Damn those slimming Anthro mirrors!

gibralter's gleam dress – I love these colours

skoura idyll dress

villa maroc surplice – love the top and the shot

study in contrasts dress – I love this dress too

cordata scoopneck – this is gorgeous, and very similar to something Club Monaco was selling last year

mountain fold shell, precious saffron skirt, primary colour peep-toes – I don`t wear yellow, but I think I’ll take inspiration from this colour combination.

Purple sky

I’m never going to get tired of this view.

However, people will get tired of endless pictures of the view, so I will stop soon.

Running out of steam

It’s been just over a week since Will and I moved into our new condo, and it’s sloowly coming together.

The boxes are hidden out of camera range.  After the initial flurry of unpacking and organizing, we’re both losing our enthusiasm.  But there’s still a sense of satisfaction when another box is unpacked and the floorspace reclaimed.

These recycled glass bottles from west elm are in my favourite colour palette.

I love books, and I especially love pretty books.

Speaking of pretty, how about this view from our balcony?

I have to gather up all my energy and find the enthusiasm to finish the rest of the boxes, and then I’ll breathe easy.  Back to fashion, shopping, and daily outfits soon.

I’m not sure about sweat (that implies exercising :)), but for the most part I agree.

shoots & stems dress, south bay tote, blue warbler slingbacks – I love the combination of the white dress with the blue shoes.  I need to find some blue flats.

hialeah silk dress

lake okeechobee tie-back

crosswinds dress – a little bridal, perhaps?

grecian garden dessert plates, wild cabbage dinnerware

orange blossom apron, poppy jubilee apron – I love me some colourful aprons

belle isle peep-toes, jai alai sandals, artwalk t-straps

home sweet home

I've been missing lately because I've had a really busy few days. Will and I moved into our condo on Saturday, and it's been awesome.

This is the only good photo so far, since the rest of the condo is covered in boxes. I feel like I'm living in an episode of Hoarders.

Of course, the first thing I did was unpack and organize my closet.

I have my priorities.

It's been crazy and overwhelming because I've had work stress (a huge rollercoaster of emotions in the past few weeks) on top of moving stress. I have so much to do I don't know where to begin, I just stand in the middle of boxes and stare at everything. Sometimes I'm so overwhelmed I want to sit down among the boxes and cry.

But really, compared to what's happening in Japan, does it really matter? I'm safe, my family and friends are safe. I sleep in my warm bed and night and my life is still intact. I can't imagine what the thousands of people are going through.

Here's how to help in Canada.

30 for 30 winter edition recap

I started with 30 items, and came up with 30 outfits.  And I really enjoyed it this time, actually.
